Middle School Summer Studies

CAMP LOCATION: ACADEMY CAMPUS

This half-day, four-week academic program provides an opportunity for students entering Grade 5-8 to get an academic boost or strengthen skills to prepare for the next grade level.

Summer Studies

Combining intensive study and small-group learning, this program provides individual attention and student engagement. Students may take one or two classes, either for remediation or enhancement.

Courses are taught by Gulliver teachers and follow the Gulliver curriculum with a summer twist of engaging activities and class themes.

Course Description

Students taking the Writing Class, Grades 5-6 course will work to become familiar with a structured four paragraph essay that may be literature based or creative in nature. Students will engage in and employ a wide range of strategies as they write and use the writing process elements appropriately to communicate with different audiences for a variety of purposes. In addition, students will adjust their spoken, written, and visual language to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences and for different purposes. When appropriate, students will be given the opportunity to link their summer reading requirement with their writing practice.

Combinations

Morning Middle School Summer Studies can be combined with Engineering Camps and Athletic Camps for a full-day program at an additional charge; includes lunch. If your child is participating in an afternoon athletics camp, they will be bused from the Academy campus to the Prep campus by Gulliver buses to complete their day.
