Music Program

The Gulliver Middle School and Prep music departments use a performance-based curriculum to help students develop individual performance skills towards mastery, as well as to cultivate life skills such as self-confidence, poise, accountability, responsibility, empathy, collaboration, integrity and leadership.

Music classes in the middle school include Beginning Band, Beginning Strings, Beginning Chorus, Intermediate Band, Intermediate Strings and Intermediate Chorus. Major performing ensembles include Symphonic Band, Advanced String Orchestra, Middle School Chorus, Jazz Band and Chamber Strings.

The Gulliver Preparatory music department provides a conservatory-level program that offers important venues for students’ musical abilities to be showcased. Curricular ensembles and classes include string/orchestra, wind and percussion, vocal and jazz ensembles, as well as AP Music Theory.

All ensembles participate in district and state music performance assessment festivals.

Extra-curricular opportunities also abound for students in the music program; students can participate in district and state festivals as soloists and/or members of chamber ensembles. Our musicians are also represented in the Florida All-State Music Festival and perform in a national music festival each year.
