Five Gulliver student-athletes have committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. These student-athletes were honored at several National Signing Day ceremonies this academic year, with the final event set for April 17.
Emily Cordovi '19 has been a key swimmer for the Gulliver girls' swimming program and a cornerstone of their state championship dynasty. She is an All-American in five different swimming events, including three times in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, and twice in the 400 freestyle, 200 medley and 200 medley relay. Additionally, Emily has been named Swimmer of the Year twice by the Miami Herald. She is a consistent Honor Roll student and has signed an NLI to swim at Florida State University while pursuing a degree in exercise physiology.
Olivia Cordovi '19 has been instrumental in leading the Gulliver girls' swimming team to dominance during her tenure. She is an All-American in the 400 freestyle, a four-time state champion in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay, and a state finalist in four events. In addition, Olivia is a two-time First Team All-Dade selection. She is an AP Scholar, and will continue her academic studies at Southern Methodist University where she will study English and history and join the SMU swimming team.
D'Sean Perry '19 has played for the Gulliver football team since eighth grade. He is one of the top defensive players in Miami-Dade County making the All-County and All-Conference teams the last three years, and, this year, was named South Florida Conference Defensive Player of the Year. D'Sean has also been a valued member of the basketball and track and field teams. Academically, D'Sean is a focused student who takes rigorous honors courses. He has signed an NLI to play football for the University of Virginia where he will study medical science.
Marie Bou Aziz '19 has been a key contributor to the Gulliver girls' soccer program, earning the team's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year award in 2018. She is enrolled in the IB Programme, touts a 5.0 GPA, and is a member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society and Dance National Honor Society. Marie has signed an NLI to play soccer at Emerson College where she will study communications and communications disorders.
Ruben Rodriguez '19 is a three-sport athlete as a member of Gulliver's football, weightlifting and baseball programs. He has been a member of the Raider football program since his junior year and has been a starter in every game. In the classroom, Ruben is an Honor Roll student who finds time to give back to his community by volunteering for service organizations like G.O.A.L.S., Baby Bulls and Miracle League. He has accepted a scholarship to play football and study business law at St. Anselm College.
