Empower the Future
By Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships Nicole Kaufman Glasgow P '31
The New Year always heralds time for reflecting on our values and showing gratitude. This school year, we rally around the concept of EMPOWER. Each of us, as members of the Gulliver community, has unique opportunities to empower. Our students are developing innovations, serving as tutors for our Breakthrough Scholars and leading fundraising events for hurricane relief efforts. Our alumni are serving as mentors and opening new internship opportunities. Our faculty are engaging students in action research and project-based learning.
Hundreds of members of our school community are helping us foster a culture of philanthropy, supporting our Empower the Future 2017-18 Annual Fund. We have raised over $600,000 towards our $1.3 million goal. Gifts to our Annual Fund enhance the Gulliver experience for our students, faculty and alumni and advance our strategic imperatives.
Our philanthropy jump started this fall with an outpouring of support for our hurricane relief efforts which has continued thanks to the vision, creativity and dedicated efforts of faculty, students and our parent community. Together, they have raised funds for relief efforts from activities including drama, social sciences work, jeans days, engineering and more.
The Empower the Future campaign officially launched on Give Miami Day in November – to unprecedented success. Together, we tripled the number of donors giving on that day and more than doubled the dollars raised. The philanthropic investments by our parents, grandparents, friends of school, corporate partners, faculty and staff are reflective of our school values and Raider Spirit. From the Performing Arts Fund and athletics, to facility updates, professional development and projects across campus, donors to the annual fund are empowering the future.
