The 2018 Alumni Reunion Weekend, held June 1-3, was the perfect chance for Gulliver alums to relax and get away from it all – even those who live locally! Amid the gorgeous tropical resort setting of the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne, alumni had the opportunity to reconnect with classmates and faculty, while enjoying a full weekend of fun celebrating the classes of 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013.
The weekend kicked off on Friday evening, June 1, at the Prep, with cocktails and bites from Schnebly Redland's Winery and Miami Brewing Company, and Zuuk Mediterranean Kitchen, followed by a campus tour and pep rally to get psyched up for the weekend's festivities. The different classes then broke off for their Anniversary Mixers, with the classes of 1978 and 1983 headed to the Ritz-Carlton's Cantina Beach, the classes of 1993 and 1998 bringing their spirit to The Lightkeepers at the Ritz-Carlton, the class of 1988 enjoying a private soiree at the home of Cristina and Matt Sullivan '88 P '21 '23, and the classes of 2003, 2008 and 2013 living it up at Black Market Miami, owned by Shane Vernon '05.
Saturday morning offered an array of activities, from yoga to touch football to beach volleyball. Gulliver President Cliff Kling and Head of School Frank Steel hosted "Bagels with the Bosses," where they gave an update on the school's strategic and master plan initiatives. That afternoon, guests and their families enjoyed a pool party at The Dune, featuring music, games and a delicious barbecue feast. Alums even had the chance to pose for photos with our ever-energetic Raider mascot, while browsing through old yearbooks to revisit special moments.
On Saturday evening, alumni gathered in the Grand Ballroom for the All Alumni Reunion Celebration, including a decadent dinner and dancing the night away. The second annual Distinguished Alumni and Faculty Awards were presented to a most deserving group of recipients; you can read more about them in our atrium magazine or online here.

The award for Furthest Travelled, sponsored by Wheels Up and Justin Firestone '95, is always a crowd pleaser and this year went to Ignacio Munoz '98, who joined us all the way from Lima, Peru! The crowd kept the party going into the early morning hours at the after party at the hotel's The Lightkeepers and RUMBAR.
"Class reunions are a time-honored tradition," said Lori-Ann Cox P '19 '25, Executive Director of External Affairs and Chief Advancement Officer. "You can network, reminisce, share experiences and revisit traditions with your spouse and children. In the end, while wall posts are great, nothing beats catching up in person."
One last hurrah was in store at Sunday morning's Farewell Brunch, where alums reflected on old memories, as well as new ones made over a weekend of reuniting, revelry and, most importantly, Raider Pride! We can't wait to see everyone next year!
