Technology is changing, evolving, and growing at a startling pace in our society. At Gulliver Schools, it is our intention to stay on the forefront of technology by providing students, faculty, administration, and support staff access to a wide variety of hardware and software resources that improve student learning and communication.
Countless studies point to the intrinsically motivating nature of technology and its ability to meet the needs of students with various learning styles. As an educational institution, Gulliver has the responsibility to prepare its students to use technology as a tool for growth and learning. Teachers are encouraged to employ the ever-improving tools of technology to meet curricular goals. To this end, we are committed to providing the instruction necessary to enable the Gulliver community to use technology in ways that will benefit their lives, currently and in the future.
Gulliver offers a variety of technology resources for use by students, faculty, and administrators to aid in the educational process. All Gulliver’s campus locations, as well as its Executive and Advancement Office,s are equipped with the most current voice-over IP telecommunications systems and high-speed Internet, and are linked through sophisticated networking technology, enabling campuses to share information quickly and efficiently.
In addition, Gulliver Schools' Technology Enhanced Classroom Initiative (TECI) brings the latest technology into the classroom. Mobile learning devices including I-Touch and I-Pads promote collaborative and individualized learning. The TECI classrooms that have been installed on the Gulliver campuses include the following exciting tools for teaching and learning: SMART Board, classroom sound field system, control panel, document camera, DVD player, laptop, and student response system.
Gulliver subscribes to numerous online resources and databases for use by teachers and students.
Resources include Discovery Education United Streaming, Destiny library portal, BrainPop, Voicethread, Glogster, and many more. Having access to high quality digital content allows teachers to incorporate media-rich resources into their curriculum.
Technology is infused in teaching and learning across all campuses. The Gulliver website provides a technology link among parents and students as well as teachers in the classroom learning environment. Through the web, parents can stay involved in classroom activities and easily communicate with their child’s teachers. New and emerging technologies are also finding their way into the Gulliver curriculum in interesting and innovative ways; these technologies expand the learning experience beyond the classroom. Students and teachers use Skype to communicate globally and students can collaborate with peers through specially designed collaborative wikis and blogs. Many new course textbooks include multimedia supplements and online instructional websites; Gulliver teachers take full advantage of these technology-rich learning extensions.
Instructional technology is woven into the Gulliver curriculum and supports students as they learn to become leaders of the 21st century.
