Using Design Process to Help Children

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Tiffany Medina's MYP (Middle Years Programme) Design class are using their sewing skills to help children with autism. Olivia Martinez-Johnson '22 came up with the idea of making weighted lap pads that would help children with Autism feel more secure in their seats, making it easier for them to remain calm and concentrated. "The average cost of a lap pad is $70, which is very expensive," Olivia explains. "My product does the same function, but only cost $21 to make." >>Read more

Students Share Winning Engineering Project

A group of Prep Engineering students presented their award-winning Project Algae Bloom Prevention design to more than 2,000 people this month. After earning top honors in the inaugural Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering Design Competition last spring, on October 23 they presented their project to more than 2,000 people at the opening ceremony for the 2017 PLTW Summit in Orlando. This marks the third time that Gulliver has presented during the opening ceremony; no other school has done so more than once. >>Read more

Jazz Ensemble is Only Middle School Group Selected to Perform at Midwest Clinic International Conference

If you close your eyes and listen to the tune and rhythmic melodies that emerge from Gulliver Academy's Jazz Ensemble, it's nearly impossible to believe that these musicians are barely teenagers. The Jazz Ensemble is the only middle school jazz ensemble selected to perform in the 71st Annual Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference. They'll be heading to Chicago this December. >>Read more

Raider Fest At Make a Splash: Saturday, November 11, 2017

Gulliver's annual student-led swim-a-thon fundraiser, Make-A-Splash, is expanding into a complete family fun day with pool activities, arts and crafts, performances, sports contests, health and wellness, and exciting booths! Admission to Raider Fest at Make a Splash is free. Purchase pre-sale activity bands to participate in these exciting activities. Proceeds support Gulliver's 2017-18 Annual Fund to benefit participating school programs and clubs as well as our signature partner, Breakthrough Miami at Gulliver.
